There are no hard and fast rules to maintain this evergreen and everlasting beauty. If truth be told, it is the perfect plant for beginners to begin their gardening journey. Listed below are the secret to growing a bushy and healthy money plant.

Soil – Money plants thrive in well-drained soil. Pick up a potting soil with high perlite content. You can find it at any local plant shop. Or you can also use a mix of river sand and regular potting soil. Sand promotes excellent drainage and aeration to plants.

Water – Just like other indoor plants, the watering needs of the Money plant vary depending on the season. However, this plant prefers under-watering rather than overwatering since it can harm its growth. During summers, water them once every 7 to 10 days. Let the soil dry out a little between watering sessions. To keep a check on when to water, stick your finger into the soil. If the soil is moist, there is no need to water. While in winter, mist the leaves and water the plants once every two weeks.

More so, since the weather in Dubai is usually dry, if you have a Money plant in Dubai, ensure its soil doesn’t crack up. The water requirement can differ according to the environment these plants are put in.

Sunlight – Sunlight is the fuel that accelerates a plant’s food-making process. And money plants are no exception! To make your money plant thrive, keep them in a partially sunny and partially shady corner. Though money plants can handle direct sunlight, the scorching sun rays for a longer period may burn the leaves. Therefore, place them in a low-light area that also receives a good exposure to bright sunlight.

Fertilisers – Though pothos is not heavy feeders, feeding them with organic manure once a month is fine too. Feed your money plant with some fertilisers while watering and make sure you read the ‘How to Use’ instructions carefully. Do not put in more than the instructed amount. Don’t fertilise the money plant in winter and take care to feed the fertiliser in the evening only.

Potting & Re-potting – The money plant is an easy to grow indoor plant that has good growth and if it seems to outgrow the pot, it needs repotting. Re-pot it in a bigger container with fresh soil and manure. Also, timely pruning can promote healthier growth. Remove dead leaves, brown leaf tips and branches from time to time.
